Ivan Vanchev and Doug Bacon, students in the Master of Integrated Design and Construction program, won honorable mention in the 2013 Leicester B. Holland Prize: A Single Sheet Measured Design Competition.

Their drawing, “The Main Gate and Auburn Oaks at Toomer’s Corner,” was created as part of an independent study directed by Rebecca Retzlaff, an associate professor of community planning in the College of Architecture, Design and Construction.

The drawing will be put in the Library of Congress and will be available on the National Park Service website as part of the Historic America Buildings Survey and the Historic American Engineering Record. For more information, go to this website.

Doug Bacon made headlines earlier this year when he saved a woman from drowning after she jumped from the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma. To read more about that, click here.
